Storyboarding
The set up and pay off
Narration leading vision
On location – dos and don’ts
Be very aware of the sounds that are around – listen through headphones.
Avoid direct sun – go for soft shade if you can – a verandah or next to a big window with a reflector bouncing back light is excellent.
Try cutaways, reverse shots and noddies, use two cameras if they’re available.
The Shoot:Write a story board, then go shoot it. Working in groups of two or three please shoot a short piece on video.
It could be an interview on the verandah, or a piece about the Training Centre, or something that you do down on the harbour.
Create a final edited version that runs around 3 minutes.
You can look for still images to use on the net too. And try to record some narration. Don’t forget to get atmos.
We’ll be around to offer help.
